Sikh Bhangra Birthday Bash

On our second evening in KL we were invited to Lucas' and Rene's neice's 21st birthday party at the house of Lucas' brother. A big family occasion with friends and neighbours invited to join in. The celebrations spilled out into the street. In accordance with the Sikh religion the event was alcohol free, but there was plenty of tasty Punjabi food, loud music and energetic bhangra dancing and a good time was had by all.

There's plenty of food for everyone...

but now it's time to feed the birthday girl with cake .....and to open gifts.

No that's not a string of cigarettes coming out of the box - it's rolled up money.

And when the music begins everyone starts to bhangra.
So Lucas' Dad teaches Dan to bhangra too.
Looks like he's catching on fast!
